Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is becoming a major health issue worldwide associated with premature mortality, decreased quality of life, and increased health-care expenditures. The most common causes of kidney disease is high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, which left untreated, can lead to end stage renal failure. In Pakistan health issues relating to kidney disease are prevalent based on facts that thousands of patients do not have access to medical advise, due to lack of resources including a shortage of facilities, equipment and medical staff especially in rural areas. In an effort to tackle the growing health risks of kidney problems in Pakistan, the Bilqees Sarwar Foundation (BSF) inaugurated the Razia Begum Dialysis Centre on June 4, 2016 at the Bilqees Sarwar Hospital.
The Centre provides quality treatment, equipped with the latest machinery, and is staffed with highly skilled medical professionals. The Sarwar family opened the Razia Begum Dialysis Centre in memory of Mrs. Bilqees Sarwar’s brother and Mr. Farhan Sarwar’s brother in law who lost his life to renal failure. The Centre exclusively focuses on kidney problems and provides specialized healthcare to the underserved community.
